A rare visual archive of custom patches worn by American police gang and narcotics units, including local departments, joint task forces with the FBI and DEA, and DEA units themselves. Skulls, reapers, serpents, and masked figures, and even trap houses lifted straight from the iconography of the gangs they policed. Mostly unofficial, hand-sketched and stitched in small batches, these patches were traded as keepsakes and quietly passed hand to hand at collectors’ shows and auctions until their history faded and only the image remained.

This book gathers that scattered imagery into one collection, showing how law enforcement built its own identity out of the same visual language as the streets it patrolled: authority and outlaw aesthetics, sitting closer together than you’d expect.
