Distort mag started in 2003 to document kvlt hardcore and World War III. The contents of Distort have been dominated by impulse, excess, insomnia, stimulation. No editor, no proofread, no nerd.

Out of the 2000+ pages published over the past couple of decades I am skimming the C.R.E.A.M. into an archival book.

I'm raising funds to print this by making backissues available again via PDF.

You can also purchase a onetime subscription to all Distort here which this issue is part of.

This band from Cleveland had broken up over a decade before Distort, one of the first bands that Straightjacket agreed upon, a band that expressed better than anything happening at the time all of the glorious energy of nihilistic hardcore.

h100’s were a band I felt could break the spell of herdcore, the dull, placid A--------n nicecore scene that mirrored the droll, flaccid mass media and political landscape… a band that could inspire hatred, fear and turmoil in a society spellbound by fake stability… a society that elevates clowns…

Top Ten Records By Mike Haliuchuk

Mike is the guitarist, songwriter and conceptual apparatus behind Canadian prog hardcore band Fucked Up, and his hardcore mag Breakout was a big influence on the early issues of Distort. It was in Breakout that I first read of an early Agnostic Front show featuring a skinhead moshing with a rat in a sock, an image that still haunts me. Mike was kind enough to submit this list to Distort. Notably, this was the first time I’d heard of Jezus and the Gospelfuckers, a band that damaged my life, a band that could save yours. JEZUS SAVES.
